Fast Friends
Your kids will have plenty of company in Vietnam. Everywhere we go, we encounter children eager to make friends with the foreigners on the shiny bikes. That disarming friendliness permeates all aspects of life here, whether we’re boogie-boarding on South China Beach, touring Hanoi’s Old Quarter with a helpful guide, gaping at bemused water buffalo from the side of the road or stopping to chat with the townsfolk as we ride through the small villages along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. So special is this place and its people, we hold our breath every time we come back, hoping it hasn’t evolved too much, that it won’t be any less special. So far, so good!
Day 1 Explore Hué, the Imperial Forbidden City, after the crowds go home in the afternoon (don’t worry, we’ve got connections)
Day 2 Board our private riverboat and cruise up the Perfume River to the tomb of Minh Mang
Day 3 Ride into scenic Da Nang before heading into Hoi An (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) for lunch
Day 4 Walk a great trail that leads us past rice paddies, plenty of smiling kids and a pottery village with clay awaiting you on the wheel
Day 5 Check out the amazing karst formations and the famed Marble Mountains
Day 6 Indulge at the spa while the kids boogie-board on the South China Sea
Day 7 Dinner decisions in Hanoi: Vietnamese? French? Mediterranean? Italian?
Day 8 Get an insider’s look at Hanoi’s delightfully chaotic street life via cyclo, a bike-powered cart
Day 9 Breakfast and tam biêt in Hanoi

Pilgrimage Village, Hué
The Pilgrimage Village is located in the peaceful countryside just 4 km (2 mi.) from the centre of Hué. You’ll come to appreciate this after learning that the only thing the Vietnamese love more than waking up early is honking the horns on their mopeds! The rooms are simple but comfortable, personal, and stylish.

Evason Ana Mandara, Nha Trang
Ana Mandara means “beautiful home for the guests,” and it most certainly is. Set amidst acres of tropical gardens along a gorgeous white sand beach, the Evason Ana Mandara is spectacularly designed and built with local materials and methods to feel like a traditional Vietnamese village. Watch the sun rise over the South China Sea as you sip lotus tea from your villa balcony, or relax by the pool after a day of cycling. And then there’s always the Six Senses spa...

Easygoing to Moderate
This trip is rated Easygoing to Moderate. The daily distances for bike rides range from 20 to 50 km (12 to 31 mi.); some days offer longer/shorter options. The terrain is rolling on the first day of biking, and flat thereafter. Given the level of support on this trip, there are always options for kids to shorten routes.
