Burgundy Wine Country Self-Guided Biking

Self-guided trips combine the hallmarks of any B&R itinerary (think excellent hotels, amazing local connections and expertly planned routes) with the freedom of pacing each day exactly the way you like.

In the heart of Burgundy

On this self-guided adventure, you’ll pedal through Burgundy and its famed wine regions on two wheels. Cycle along our favourite routes, experiencing a side of Burgundy we've unlocked after decades of planning—savour the taste of Grand Cru in the Côte de Nuits, meet our local friend for a historical walking tour in Beaune, and explore the "hidden" Burgundy in the Côte Chalonnaise, all at your pace.

DAY 1

Your biking explorations begin in the Côte de Nuits and the northern half of the Côte d’Or, Burgundy’s finest wine track and home to many of the famous Grand Cru vintages. Wind along quiet vineyard roads, stopping for lunch in one of the quiet villages along the way. This evening, meet our local wine expert at your hotel who will share their deep knowledge of Burgundian wines.

Level 3

The first portion of this trip alternates between relatively flat routes and some hilly rides. Distances range from 27 to 44 km (17 to 27 mi) with options every day, including the Century Ride of 100 km. In general we follow narrow, quiet roads through vineyards, farmland, forests and charming towns. Burgundy has been credited with having the best biking, not just in France, but the world.
