Bang smack in the middle of Europe, the Czech Republic has borne witness to the march of history, with the story of empires and cultures written into the countryside as an extraordinary legacy of castles and palaces. From crumbling hilltop fortresses to majestic baroque estates, they’re ours to discover along spectacular biking routes and countryside rambles. In the spectacular capital of Prague, City of a Hundred Spires (there are actually closer to a thousand!) wanders through alleyways and around blind corners lead from one unexpected delight to another, while local customs flourish in Bohemia, Moravia and the picture-perfect, UNESCO-listed Cesky Krumlov. PRAGUE TO VIENNA BIKING
Beyond the glorious cities that start and end this trip, to us it’s the small moments that count. Musing over the fascinating life of a celebrated Czech satirist and anarchist with his great-grandson over lunch. Dinner on a terrace, listening to the traditional folk rhythms of Schrammelmusik with our musician friends. Contemplating Czech history with a local over cocktails. Biking through thousand-year-old towns, rolling by the Danube and savouring meals that are an edible stroll through the surrounding countryside.
BERLIN TO PRAGUE MULTI-ACTIVE
A fusion of history and hip awaits on this multi-active journey through Central Europe. On the outskirts of Berlin, Potsdam’s historical monuments and fine gardens give way to canals and goblin-inhabited forests, then lead to spectacular dinners from Germany’s finest chefs. Cycle trails below castles, wander amongst Dresden’s baroque architecture and sneak an exclusive look into the treasures of Saxon kings. Hike landscapes that inspired 19th c. Romantic painters and follow the Vltava into the city of a hundred spires before a final night of Bohemian delights!
PRAGUE TO SALZBURG BIKING
Bike with us on a route through deep forests, lakeside trails, Bavarian meadows and magical castles. Picturesque Cesky Krumlov appears from the surrounding countryside as if out of a fairy tale, before local guide Bryce leads you through its famed castle after-hours, sharing tales of the Velvet Revolution. Bike riverside paths into the alpine-green valleys of Salzburg as you gather memories of hand-crafted beer and apfelstrudel, hatted restaurants and rustic lunches.
